World Diabetes Day (WDD) programs

World Diabetes Day (WDD) was created in 1991 by International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes. World Diabetes Day became an official United Nations Day in 2006 with the passage of United Nation Resolution 61/225. World Diabetes Day is considered as the biggest diabetes awareness campaign with a reach of several million people. P.Kesavadev Trust has been organizing relevant thematic World Diabetes Day (WDD) events since 2000 at various parts of Kerala. Walks, Television programs, Radio talks, Quiz programs, Processions, Exhibitions, Free camps, awareness lectures make the event relatable and sensible to the WDD theme. PUBLIC AWARENESS PROGRAMS AS A SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

It is estimated that there occurs a death due to diabetes every ten seconds. The unawareness among common man about the harmful effects of diabetes such as heart attacks, blindness, kidney damage, leg ulcers, loss of sexual ability, etc has been considered as the root cause for these devastating complications of diabetes. The dedicated diabetes multidisciplinary team from Jothydev's Diabetes Research Centre, a venture of P.Kesavadev Trust as part of their social responsibility always finds happiness in investing their time and efforts to educate the public, patients and their caregivers on methods to tackle this silent killer. The Trust also organizes awareness programs in schools and colleges to let the budding brains know about lifestyle illnesses and to prevent the burden of diabetes in the next generation.
